Leopard Changes Her Spots

Yesterday morning my daughter dressed for school and looked Fabulous!

Her favorite sheer, rainbow leopard dress by Peace Of Cake (which sadly matches her bedspread) paired with [ugly] silver sparkle shoes I picked up cheap at Wal-Mart (never thinking they’d get half as much use as they have – they’ve held up though I will say that)

She accessorized with a pop bead necklace that she had made herself and lastly a bracelet that my mother had once given to me.  The bracelet was among many things left at my parents house and one of the pieces of jewelry L has come home with in the past few months.

The whole outfit looked good and she did not hesitate to pose for her “fashion show.”

After she struck her pose for the Fashion Show pic, L over heard me telling her dad that I’ve had some complaints from other parents.  They are fighting with their daughters who are insisting on wearing dresses when the parents think it is not weather appropriate.  Their argument is, “L wears dresses all the time.”   [oops]

L immediately ran down the hall yelling that she was not going to wear what she had on.  She reappeared in a sparkly shirt and blue jeans… not at all the way L goes to school.   I let it go knowing what had happened.  Later on the way to school I stopped and asked her if she changed because of what I had told Daddy.  She told me that she did not want the other girls copying her.  This sent me once again into the “copying you is the biggest form of flattery” garbage I told her last time this happened.

L is all original all the time and wants no Mini-Me’s out there in the world!  She is a trend setter that wants desperately to be unique… such is the life of a sparkly wall flower… some just can’t be ignored…
